The definition of Radiate is “to extend, spread, or move like rays of light from a central point. To glow with cheerfulness or joy.” And that is what we strive to do: to Radiate Christ because He is out center, our reason from our joy! Each Sunday night we get together to experience the wonderful power of God through prayer worship, and Bible Study.
Our theme verse is: 2 Corinthians 4:5-7, “We don’t go around preaching about ourselves; we preach Christ Jesus, the Lord. All we say about ourselves is that we are your servants becase of what Jesus has done for us. For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made us understand that this light is the brightness of the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. But this precious treasure – this light and power that now shine within us – is held in perishable containers, that is, in our weak bodies. So everyone can see that our glorious power is from God and is not our own.”
Our strategy is to IGNITE the passion for Jesus Christ in middle school and then have the youth carry on that passion into high school (RADIATE), where they can truly find out who they are in Christ. When a person becomes a follower of Christ that person then becomes a brand-new person on the inside. The Holy Spirit gives them new life, and they are not the same anymore. We are not reformed, rehabilitated, or reeducated-we are re-created (new creations), living in vital union with Christ (Colossians 2:6-7). At conversion we do not merely turn over a new leaf; we begin a new life under a new Master.
And when Jesus changes a life that person can’t help but to show or radiate that change to everyone around them. A person can’t help but to show the world a new kind of love, a different priorities, and finally a new way to live. That is what we are all about in our high school ministry. Taking the passion from middle school and then giving them the tools and training to be world changers for Jesus Christ!
